Selma
A few weeks ago all tys went to liffey valley, for a special viewing of the new movie Selma.
Selma is a movie about Racism in America, and the struggle for civil rights. The movie shows us how segregated the south was. Black people were denied the right to vote and were seen as second class citizens. There were thousands of racially motivated murders, and the black community had had enough. They were determined to be equal, and they believed in achieving it in a peaceful manner. The were led my Martin Luther King, who is played by David Oyelowo in the movie. Most people really enjoyed the movie even though it was considered quite sad at times.

The Guards
As part of Ty we get a chance to do work experience.
I got an opportunity to take part in a block week with the guards. I didn't know what to expect from this work experience. But it definitely turned out to be my favorite one's so far. We got to see what life as a guard is like. It interested me more than i expected. I had briefly considered a career in the guards before, but i now consider it more seriously with a genuine interest in the job. Its a career that i can see myself doing, and a career that I would be happy in. On the first day we went to templemore. This was a good experience as we got to see the student guards training and learning. We also got to look around and see all the facilities that were available to them there.
We spent the next two days in the courts. This was also very interesting. We were allowed in on any court case that interested us. We attended many court cases ranging from theft to murder. We also spent a few minutes in the Elaine O'Hara.
The next day we went to westmanstown where we saw all the special units. We saw the mounted unit, the dog unit and the sub aqua unit.

Fashion Show!!!!
Last week our school held a fashion show in Celbridge Manor Hotel. Models were randomly selected from each year. The models had to model clothes from Liffey Valley, Manor Mills and shops in Naas. My group had to model clothes from The United Colours of Benneton and Born.
As well as modeling, there was also musical entertainment and dancing.
A lot of preparation went into organizing the hotel for the fashion show. We had to paint the ramp and back drop the day of the fashion show, and hope it was dry in time for the show.
The show started at eight. The models had to be there at 7, to touch up our hair and makeup.
both nights of the show went very well and everyone involved enjoyed the experience.
